Parallel port printing no longer works in WinXP

I have been using Zebra HT-146 barcode printers(parallel port) with Win2000 without problems, but when I moved my application to another PC with WinXP, my print VIs no longer work.
I have verified that the printer and cables work 100% on Win2000 PC.

I have head of issues with winXP printer drivers. Here is the latest that I could find from Zebra. Driver version on their website is 5.3.5.15.

I found the solution, but not the root cause. I did install the newest WinXP driver from Zebra but it did not change anything. The only thing that did make a difference was to go into Start>Settings>Printers and delete the Zebra printer. Then it worked fine. Go figure!
