Tst,

Thanks for the support !

I'll probably spend my week-end on the subject. My idea is to see if the display of bitmap (array) chunks is faster than redrawing the whole thing. I'll also try the idea of using a presized string...

CC!

So this is how you keep you no. of postings high...;)

I wanted to start a pet-project using my PDA.  It will now have to wait until August (don't ask!!!).

These threads are definitely interesting.

Charly, has anything come out of this?

I may need this myself in the not too distant future and I would like to know if I will any problems with loading images from files before I actually start working on it.

Hi Tst !
I had no problem loading and displaying 253 Ko bitmap pictures. I have not tried with bigger images : waiting for an iPAQ 4700...

Displaying a bitmap is definitely much faster than redrawing the whole thing. Unfortunately, I still don't have a solution to convert a picture to bitmap (except by transferring the string to a PC, converting on the PC and sending the result back to the PDA 😮 :().
Why can't we have something equivalent to the Word-PDA drawing tool ?
Why are we obliged to code a picture scroll, just to get sluggish performance with a hideous GUI !
When will we get an answer from NI ? Molly, if by chance you read this, who should we ask ?

Charly, here's a trick to make Molly read it - click Options and Report to a Moderator.

For me, it doesn't look like I will need to be writing any BMPs at the moment, only reading, and even then I could conceivably create my own format and save on the PC if necessary, so it doesn't look like I will be running into this specific problem just yet.

CC,

Have you even done a project with a PDA where you use the PDA (an older PalmPC in my case) to control a device through IR signal...

Even something as rudimentary as creating a remote control using the PDA's IR Tx?

I have a "pet-project" that I want to start designing soon (well... sometime this spring).

Cheers,

Ray

Sorry JLV, but my experience is limited to bluetooth connection. I'll test the IR in the future, but not before March !
