Hello GeekySeb,

The first troubleshooting step you should go through is verifying that your outgoing connections are not blocked by a firewall. Your firewall may be blocking the NI Update Service from contacting NI servers.

Could you please provide us with more information regarding this issue.

1)  You mentioned that there was usually a "No internet" message. What did the error message say exactly?

2)  When you are using NI Update Service, when exactly does the program throw the error?

Thank you,

Jonathan

Hello and sorry for late reply.

Here is the error message:

Capture20141105.JPG

It apears about 1 second after this is displayed:

Capture before error.JPG

I have tried on 3 different networks (including unrestricted home network). The windows firewall is disabled. I'm using win7 64 bits

Hi GeekySeb,

You should check to make sure all NI services are running correctly on your Windows machine. If you search for "Services" in the start menu you'll find the control panel item that opens up the utility to control Windows services. You can scroll down and you'll see a number of services beginning with NI. If any of those are stopped then you'll want to restart them, which may be the cause of the problem you are seeing.

Hello,

I have turned ON all NI services and it's still not working. However, it seems that this time the "checking NI.com for updates..." message lasted a bit longer.

GeekySeb,

There may be a problem with the installation of your NI Update Service. You can try repairing the program by going to Programs and Feature in Control Panel. From there open up the item called "National Instruments Software." You will see a list of all NI software installed, just select NI Update Service 2014 and click repair.
