Problem with linking lookout to Allen Bradley SLC500 PLC.

I have tried several KTX cards. Lookout comes with an alarm that says, "unable to access physical memory at segment 0xD700". The LEDs on the KTX card never come on. I am running Window NT4.0.

Hi Prairiedog,
I understand that you are having troubles linking Lookout to your AB SLC500 PLC. If you are not getting the proper LED display on the KTX card, then there may be a hardware issue involved. I have several questions about your system, but in the mean time, please look at the following resource to see if it is of assistance. KB 0VQ81UM4: Some issues about configuring AB-KT or KTX card under Windows NT (3.51 or 4.0):
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/D8A6E70567BD802285256467004D1463?OpenDocument

Questions to help resolve your issue:
1. What make and model of KTX cards have you tried? Many of the newer KTX cards do not work with Lookout because we don't have drivers for the cards. In order to use them, you have to use the RS Linx driver and
Lookout as an OPC client.
2. What version of Lookout are you using?
3. Have you been able to use any of this devices in other systems successfully before, or is this the first time configuring all of this equipment?

These questions should help us troubleshoot what's happening with your system.

Thanks for responding Marcus. I am not in the plant now. However, we have several other machines which have the same installation. All of them have the same KTX card as this one. As a matter of fact, this particular equipment did work at one time. We are using version 3.8. As far as I know, there was an issue when I was not present where a touchscreen monitor driver had to be reinstalled in this computer. Rslinx may even have been reloaded because of driver conflicts. Afterwards, when I returned I noticed the monitor displays,"Unable to access physical memory at segment 0xD700". I will be in the plant tomorrow morning when time has been given to resolve this issue. If there are any resources that you could supply in the meantime I could certainly use the
m.

Thanks,

Hi prairiedog,
The physical memory message indicates that this is most likely an installation issue as indicated by KnowledgeBase 24AAO9J6 "Allen Bradley KTX Card Alarms: "Unable to access physical memory at ..."" located at
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/9042B26996070FCB862569B20061D5EA?OpenDocument
To resolve the problem I recommend reinstalling lookout and RS Linx or, better yet, upgrading to Lookout 5.1.
Hope this helps,
