Problems with NI Package manager

Hello,

I am trying to download and install Labview. However, as far as I know I had to install first NI Package manager, but when trying to install it a dialog box with the message "Package is already installed. No operation will be performed" apperas. The funny thing is that that package is not installed, why I cannot even start my installation.

Could you help me fix this problem ?

Thanks

  • If you open Control Panel, Programs and Features, do you see entries for either/both "National Instruments Software" and/or "NI Package Manager 64-bit" (or anything similar)?
  • Have you previously installed LabVIEW on this machine?  If so, have you tried to remove it?
  • What, specifically, did you do?  Be detailed.

Dear NI staffs,

yes, I tried to uninstall labview from the control panel. Nevertheless, there are not such entries. No, I have not installed labview in this machine before today. Well I think I am going to explain step by step:

1) I was trying to install NI Package manager, however a memory error appears, since there were not enough space in my disk to save the data. Hence, I had to stop the installation and install other software to make enough space for labview.

2) Having made space in my disk I tried to install again Manager and labview the first one was installed satisfactory but the second one no. So I tried to desist the complete installation and in the check boxes I tried to avoid downloading different packages, toolkits etc.

3) Then, again I tried but it said that labview was installed, however in the control panel I just appear some programs of labview but not labview. Hence, I decided to delete manually the folders of labview. However, by mistake I delete the NI Package manager folder.

After that, I have not been able to install those programs again ?

Do you need screenshots or things like that to verify something ?

Thanks for your cooperation

A LabVIEW installation involves thousands of files (mine has >80,000).  When properly installed, most of them create entries in the Windows Registry, the database that Microsoft uses to keep Windows running properly.

Deleting LabVIEW files and Folders, especially NIPM (which manages installation and uninstallation), can seriously compromise a Windows system.  [I did this, myself, three years ago, and ended up "fixing" it by backing up my system, reformatting the C: drive, reinstalling Windows, reinstalling Office and my other Programs, reinstalling my Profile, then reinstalling LabVIEW.

A recent Post on the Forum titled "Package Installation Error: ni-meta uninstaller" from user @carminerodio86, had links to articles about how to safely remove National Instruments Software, including when NIPM cannot readily be found.  It was posted on October 15, 2020.  Hope it helps.
