Q: Labview file format (vi, llb)

Hello community,

I would like to know if the Labview file formats are completely
secrets or if some or all of it is open. Is it possible to control
LabView to build a vi? For example, can I give commands like "place
control integer at (0.5, 3.9)", "place indicator integer at (7.0,
5.6)", "connect control ctrl_ID0 indicator ind_ID1" and so on?

Maybe there is a LabView dll I can call from another program.

Any pointers are appreciated.

Regards

Not right now. The technology does exist and is being used in NI's Vision Builder toolkit but it hasn't been released yet to the programming community. LabVIEW "scripting" got a fairly intensive discussion on info-labview some months back and if you're interested, the info-labview search engine is here. But, in the meantime, we all have to wait and see what the future brings.

I have tried to search for Scripting, InfoLab, and LabView. Can you
give me a more specific URL to the discussion?

The discussion started about 5/21/02. The thread was "Editing LV diagrams using text files". There was another thread that started up 10/12/02 called "Changing control type programaticaly" but it changed names and kind of degenerated into some childish behavior on the part of one participant.

Hello Dennis,

thanks again. The discussion is very interesting, but it is difficult
to navigate the mailing list archive at the moment.
