Recover corrupted VI: "Load error code 1"

Hello everybody,

while debugging my VI (LabVIEW 2011 SP1), a memory error occurred and crashed.
Now, I´m unable to open my VI. A window appears indicating "Load Error Code 1".
I have read some posts about this issue and seems there is no way to recover the VI, but I need to recover it (some weeks of work).
The major problem is that, as if I were a beginner, don´t have any backup.
I know I should have backups, but I don´t.  ;-(

Is there any way to recover the VI? I can´t spend too much time redoing the VI again.

Thank you very much,

AR.

Nope. Good lesson for you on using backups and version control, huh?

A buddy of mine absolutely refused to wear his seatbelt. It was his rebellious nature fighting back against authority telling him that he must wear it. He got pulled over for speeding and got a ticket both for speeding and for not wearing his seatbelt. He was so proud of himself when he fought that in court and won. He perjured himself by telling the judge that he was wearing his seatbelt and only took it off to get out his wallet for the officer before the officer approached his car. Then one day he was nearly killed in what would have otherwise been a fender bender. He always wears his seatbelt now.

Something about your post reminded me of that.

Hi, alrome27,

I have a recovery tool that works in less than 1% of the VIs on which it is executed. I can't promise anything but you can send me your VI if you want to see if we are so lucky to belong to that one-per-cent club. It's up to you.

On the other hand, do always backup copies, it is the safest way to work with code.

Saludos!

Jesús

To the other guys: no need to be unpolite or sarcastic. Every single person makes mistakes.

A person who does not make backups isn't making a "mistake". They are simply being foolish. And that's not impolite or sarcastic. That's the blatant truth.

I hope I didn't come off as (too) sarcastic. Yes everyone makes mistakes and trust me I know Smiley Wink. I just wanted to hammer in how mistakes and other unforeseen catastrophes can be much less costly with the seatbelt analogy. I hope no offense was taken and I assure you that none was intended.

Hello everybody,

Jesús, thank you but, finally, I rewrote the VI. That´s the price I had to pay for not doing backups. Thank you very much.

SteveChandler, no offense was taken. I liked the the seatbelt analogy. Thank you very much.

Smercurio_fc, I think I´m not a foolish. I have been programming for more than 10 years and this is the first time, in the last 9 years, that I lose my job because of not doing backups. I usually make local backups so as remote SVN backups. Have you never made a mistake? Did sarcasm replies help you? Anyway, thank you for reading and replying.

Bye.
