Removing PCMCIA vs Cable

I have a NI 6024E PCMCIA card in my laptop. Twice a week I take this laptop
to school, and I obviously have to remove the cable from the card.

Question - Would it be better to keep the cable attached, and remove the
PCMCIA card during transport, or leave the card in the computer, and remove
the cable? All those little pins make me nervous..

Probably "6 of one - 1/2 dozen of the other", but just checking.

Hello,

I'm sure this is just a personal preference that would change from one person to the next, but I think the easiest thing to do would be to detach the cable and leave the card in the computer. I know of no mechanical or thermal reasons to pull the card out of the laptop every day.

Of course, I'm sure somebody will make a post in a couple of minutes directly contradicting everything I said. Such is life in the Developer Exchange.

Have a good day,

There is probably a battery issue if you don't plan on plugging into the
wall.

Battery life is probably shortened by the mere presence of the card

Jeff;

There is no technical issue pointing one method better than the other. That would be more like a personal call than anything else, but I would prefer to remove the cable and leave the card on the Laptop. Just make sure to pay extra attention when removing and reconnecting the cable to the card in order to don't damage one of the small pins of the connector.
