well, they do:
Rendezvous: [...]A planned meeting between two or more parties[...]

vs.

Semaphore: [...]classic method for restricting access to shared resources[...]

Here's another explanation:

A semaphore is like a visit to the doctor. If all the doctors are with someone, you have wait outside until one of them is available.

A rendezvous is like a group of people going to see a movie. They can all meet outside the theater, but they can't go in until the entire group has arrived.
