Rigol DG1022 work with labview

Hi i have a rigol DG1022 with the 00.01... firmware and was oping to run it using labview 2012. I was wondering if anyine knew how to program it since it seems i am having an error where the intrument and computer do not communicete with each other. I think it might have to do the driver since i need the one for the old firmware but rigol only has the 00.02 firmware driver.

Thanks in advance

If you want help in fixing an error, you must provide the error code that you are getting. If you need help with the instrument firmware, then you have to contact Rigol.

For a USB connection, the instrument must either be USBTMC or the port simulates an RS-232 connection. The instrument must be listed in MAX.

Hi adgurrol,

Are you using the IDNet driver for LabVIEW available here?  ( http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=17643 ) It looks like there may be a few versions available there.

What errors are you seeing?

Yes i am using that driver for labview 2012 and it doesnt work. In MAX i am getting an error tht there was a communication failure. The details say The instrument failed to return an IDN sring.

Thanks

Hi adgurrol,

The LabVIEW driver is probably a wrapper library for VISA serial calls to the instrument and won't be used in MAX.  If MAX is reporting that the instrument is not communicating, then it is more likely an issue with the hardware or port configuration.  It is also possible that the device needs to be configured to accept serial commands - I would check the user manual to verify that something doesn't have to be set on the box to enable remote control of the instrument.

Posting on the Instrument Control forums ( http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/bd-p/140 ) or getting in touch with Rigol might be a good ideas as well, as this doesn't seem to be a LabVIEW-specific problem.

Can you provide a screen capture of the error you are seeing?

Regards,

Tom L.

Hello,

Did you you check to see if the device is physically enabled to communicate?

Have you installed our Plug and Play driver for the Rigol Fgen?

http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=AF31D528E0FD4AF9E0440021287E6A...

I am also including our tutorial for instrument control in LabVIEW below.

http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3511/en/

Lastly, Rigol actually has a LabVIEW 2011 example on their website here:

http://www.rigolna.com/products/waveform-generators/dg1000/dg1022/

I hope this helps!
