Route counter output to counter gate

On a 6602 card...

Is there any way to gate a series of counters off of the output of another counter using software? On the E-series cards, this can easily be done by telling the counter to gate off the "other couner output", but this doesn't allow you to specify which counter, generating ambiguity for the 8 counter boards. Infact, using this setting seems to always use the n-1 counter, which is not what I need.

I have one counter generating a pulse train that I want five other counters to gate off of.

Thanks,

Michael,

In order to gate your counters on separate boards off of one pulse train you will need to use RTSI connectors. This will allow you to route signals between boards. Without a RTSI connector you cannot route signals such as this except through external connections. Here is a knowledgebase on how to route signals between counters on a single board and external boards.

and here is the website for RTSI connectors.

Thanks. I had never used the RTSI bus before, I was under the impression it was used to communicate between different physical devices only. I never knew you could use it internally on one card.

That solved alot of interference problems I was having by using external gates.
