just in case did you read the readme.txt
These examples are written for NI LabVIEW 7.1.1 and later.
This examples use NI VISA USB driver.
Makes sure that you use 8SMC1-USBh controllers with
firmware usmc2503.usm or higher! In other case update
it before programming (see User Manual, paragraph 5.4.5).
.usm is the firmware that should be updated in the 8SMC1-USBh controllers .....

in the example2, try before compiling try this
did you try this?
run the example2 once by loading the profile, (usm)!!!
and stop it,
and select in the top menu operate->make current values default,
and save it
then try to compile.

ok means my step.exe did not have the proper path for the files that try to read.
now i found the exemple2.vi on the standa.it site, I was able to find probable your problem, then no need to make step.exe(my exemple) working.
we shoud focus on compiling exemple2 in you labview version 8.0.2,
did you read my last post? I think you should load the profile on the original vi before compiling and
make current value default before saving exemple2.vi
and then after try to compile.
let me know.
