Saving settings

Hi

I have a basic analogue voltage input task (DAQmx), and on the front panel, for the max. and min settings for the output graph, they are defaulted to +/- 5.00, but when i try to change these to +/- 15.00 and save the vi, the values return to +/-5.00 when i open the vi again after closing it down, is there anyway i solve this? i have no user restrictions, so i do not understand.

Thanks

Change the values to +/-15, right click on the control, chose Data Operations/Make Current Value Default. Repeat for other control, then save the VI.

To change the default values of a control, right click and select Data Operations>Make Current Value Default or to change all of the controls/indicators go to the menu bar and select Edit>Make Current Values Default. Then save the VI.

Is there a way to make the VI do this?  Suppose you want the user to be able to change defaults and then save their settings so the next time they open the .exe it will have remembered the settings.

LabVIEW does not yet allow you to programmatically make values default.

What I usually do when this is necessary, is create an ini file, and store the values to it.  I read these values from the ini file when I first start my application.

Recently, I also saw that the openG libraries have "Save panel values to config file" and "Read panel values from config file" functions.   I haven't used these yet, but I imagine they should do the same thing.

Also, one thing I usually do before storing my values to the .ini file is convert my data to the .xml format.  That way, I don't have to worry about the details of the format it is stored in.
