Search for device drivers in LabView

Solved!
Go to solution

I try to install device drivers, via LabView's help menu. I select the Manufacturer and a keyword, but I cannot click "Search >". The button is greyed out. What do I need to do to be able to click that button?

Thanks for the help!

No, I'm not logged in. I assume I'd have to press the "Change User" button, but while it is not grayed out, it doesn't work either. If I click the button, the button goes down, but never comes up again. Nothing else happens.

It often takes a minute or two to log in.  You should see a progress of what is happening in the lower left corner.

I clicked "Change User" and waited for 15 minutes. Nothing happened.

Oh, what I only realize now: If I mouse over the greyed out search button, it tells me "You must select a manufacturer." But I have a Manufacturer selected.

I assume this is a bug in LabView. I'm using LabView 2014. Are there bug trackers for LabView where one could search for bugs and possible work arounds?

As far as I know every driver you can download through that screen you can also get from NI.com directly:

Driver search page

It's a bit less convenient in that you have to put it in the instr.lib folder yourself and restart LabVIEW for them to show up in the palettes, but it's better than no drivers at all.

Hello iviewlab,

You can always verify the release notes of the new LabVIEW versions to verify if a reported bug was fixed or not. You can verify all the fixed and known issues in these documents: http://www.ni.com/labview/release-archive/

If you do not find your issue listed, please create a Service Request at ni.com/support and provide instructions to the NI engineers on how to reproduce it. We would let you know if its a expected behaviour or if its is bug in which case it will be reported.

If want you want to do is a suggestion to a LabVIEW feature you should use the idea exchange forum: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/idb-p/labviewideas

Let me know if you have questions about this.

Warm Regards,

Randy
