Serial VISA flush takes 20 ms :0.

Hello All
On my two other machines serial port flushes in no time (less than 1ms), but on my brand new Dell (2.5 GHz) serial flush takes more than 20ms.
I even downloaded VISA 3.0.1 from Ni. Did not help.
Can anybody tell me what shell I do to fix it?

Good morning Pawel.

I also notice slower performance with the Dell PC I am using at work. I get much better performance using Industrial or clone PC's.

I posted this in the survey which asks about issues with LV7.

The Dell PC is a Dimension 2350.

The "lack of" performance is not limitted to the serial communication, it appears to be consistent.. Why??? I don't know. I now use a clone and the performance issues are a thing of the past..

I think I have found the problem. I had "too new" drivers to my serial adapter. I loaded the drivers from a year ago and VISA is flushed in no time now.

Maybe you are onto something. I am running Win-XP Pro on the Dell PC. The performance issues that I have are not limited to LabView. Three other PC's share similar behaviour(s). Our IT person is investigating why...

When you say that you loaded drivers from a year ago, are you refering to the PC serial port drivers? If so, this is becoming even more interesting.

I am now (happily) developing on another PC.

Hello JLV

The drivers I am refering to are to drive NPort Server. This is a 4-serial port server you control from ethernet but you see it in the windows system as a standard serial port. I have seen that my drivers on the computer which works fast is one year older than the one I was using. I installed the old driver and everything went back to normal spped.
