Shape detection

Good morning,

I'm currentlt developing a traffic sign recogntion system. My current stage of the application is:

1. Selecting the best colour space: from the books that I read till now the suitable one should be "IHLS" (improved HLS). Since Labview library doesn't has this it's necessary to convert it by math. But it takes lots of time (400ms). In attach goes my approach. Can you tell me if is possible to improve my approach?

2. Detect sign shapes:  Using "imaq detect shapes" I can get interesting results for circles. But I don't know how to find triangles. Does imaq has something that can help me?
