Silver Boolean Buttons (Behavior)

The topic is interesting, but some following comments let me feel a little nitpick.

Whatever attached vi is helpful or not, the most important is the question itself.

Please focus on the question and feedback some constructive comments, rather than such a argument.

Not sure what part you find interesting. The Topic or Subject line might be interesting but doesn't really describe the actual issue correctly. The issue itself is just a cosmetic issue, that has no influence on the behaviour at all. As such it is of little interest to almost every LabVIEW user. Any program using such a boolean won't misbehave in any way nor see other possible problems when you execute it. So is it interesting? I would not think so.

The other things that surfaced in this thread and actually used up at least as much of space were about the more generic question if a poster of a problem should or should not attach some files to document what he tries to report. I think everybody who takes the effort to report something he thinks is wrong, should put some effort into it to make it easy for others to reproduce it. This is even more evident if you take into account that the subject line was in fact poorly describing the actual issue. The thread got somewhat out of hand when Kelly started to personally critisize Ravens Fan for asking the original poster to attach the VI he was using to create the graphics in his post. This criticisme was really unneccessary and considering the number of posts made by these two persons to this forum also quite misplaced.

You don't get Knight of NI by making lots of misplaced requests. And I find that the request from Ravens Fan was very legit.

Hi, rolfk,

I agree that it's just involved with the appearence of the boolean control and has little effect to the functionality of the program.

Maybe the words "interesting" I used is not correct as you considered, let me change in other words:

Everyone tell me something new I'd never heard, thought or discovered, especially to the basic or common-used issues, I would glad to read it.

Please note first! I offen post questions and reply my answers with attached SubVIs!

I thought it helps others to visualize what functionality of the program I want to present with little confusion or misleading.

As you said, the question is just cosmetic issue, using the image to show the result is enough(perhaps just "for me").

If someone always ask someone post the question with a VI and he also post an VI for the answer, I would regard him as  a consistent guy:)

Sometimes I got the reply with a lot of words without a VI, Hmm.. it took me a lot of time to reproduce the work and guess what the reply is...

never to say someone asked the user provide VI and did nothing but gone away... Smiley Sad(waiting is painfulll..)

Less Criticism less and Constructive Suggestion more. I think most participants are friendly:)

I'd argue that that is a quite effective way to make Knight of NI Smiley Very Happy

I would agree completely had it been a "request" from RF.  It seems to read as more of a command.  Still, the other responses must reflect a slow forum day.

And if others would like to flame on I have a few bug reporting threads which have gotten zero response from NI despite numerous VIs, pretty pictures, and detailed descriptions.  This one got a response at least.  Maybe if my threads were spiced up a little they would get noticed....

I "did nothing but gone away" for two reasons.

1.  Some people had already joined the conversation and said they concurred with the original's poster's findings.

2.  One of the people who had joined the conversation took it upon themselves to unnecessarily criticize me for having the audacity to ask for a VI that demonstrates the problem.  (Please note that I don't have any major problem with Ouadji's responses.  He ultimately did provide a VI so that I can poke around in and confirm it is truly a problem with the controls and not based on some other hidden VI setting.  And I agree that there is a problem as he has described it, but rather a very cosmetic non-critical problem).  I just decided that it was not worth my time any more to participate in the thread in light of the messages being written by the other person.

Now this thread should actually just come to an end.  A bug has been identified and confirmed.  And the rest of the conversaton is no longer needed as I think enough people have now stated what is appropriate internet etitquette

If you only count sheer numbers and assume the person doing it is a robot. But a true human from flesh won't make to many misplaced requests without being very heavily critized and sooner or later taking that criticisme to heart and most likely stop posting altogether long before even 10% to Knight of NI status is reached. Smiley LOL

Even the most ignorant poster will stop posting if most of the feedback is negative.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.  Didn't we eventually ban a certain Romanian who might just have a good chance to claim that title.

Spoiler
"The most ignorant poster" title not "Knight of NI"

I have yet to hear one good thing about the ezcort postings.  And never underestimate the persistence of trolls.

Let's just agree that you don't reach multiple thousand of Kudos (since you do not control those) with frivolous requests.

Now that this thread has completely jumped the sharks it can be fun.

But he didn't come back, at least not in any recognizable way. 😉

The ezcort posts have shown that it is very easy to create new accounts. But they never will get close to any title on their account and it is likely that the actual posts are done by different misguided noobs, who got talked into how to join the next big "get rich quick" internet scheme, and probably even had to pay something for that advice.

As was discussed elsewhere in relation to those ezcort posts: every second there is a new fool born to fall victim to such practices.
