Okay, so even the best Labview expert in my group spends a significant amount of time in block diagrams "tweaking" the positions of icons and wires. "Clean up wires" can work sometimes but often has unintended results.
I've got a few months under my belt, and I personally think it's time for NI to do something about how messy labview BD's look (see what MS has done with office drawings after 2003) and act (single pixel lines aren't fun on a 2560x1600 monitor), but I digress.
I think that two items in conjunction could help a lot:
1) make the BD grid size match the spacing of terminals on BD elements (I hope those have at common standard spacing)
2) allow wires to snap to these grids, possibly with some alignment assist like we have now in many CAD packages.
Then at least we won't be adjusting things pixel-by-pixel.

Check the LV Idea Exchange board of the Forums. That is the place to post new ideas or to give kudos to others ideas you support.
I think there has been some discussion related to both of your ideas. Look at those to decide whether you want to support them or if oyurs is sufficiently different to be a new idea.
Not all nodes on the block diagram have the same spacing. Look at Bundle and Bundle by Name for example.
