Tortoise SVN and Windows has been working well for me, too. For quite a while it's only been me in the development environment so it's not like I'm banging on it that hard. The only reason I went with SVN is that it was familiar. Like a nightmare familiar but still familiar.
The more I reinvest in upgrading my source control the more I want to get away from subversion and move towards Perforce. I can't think of any reason not to. The only SCS that is supported in LV directly and it's what NI uses. There is no direct LV integration with subversion and to get it to work with windows you need add ons.
I don't know what else I should be thinking.
