It asks for the IP address and port no. When i gave it correctly, it displays successfully opened a session. But device is not getting displayed in MAX and also in VISA Interactive control.

Hi Mathan,
Let me just figure out were you're stucked, you were telling that the scope and its instrument llb worked fine last week but now it is not recognizing the instrument? Or you followed that steps, and it did not worked?
I think that, you only have to configure "Devices and Interfaces" once, since after you add the instrument it will keep it. And you will only have to run the VI.
But since i'm not an expert with VISA TCP/IP Resource, you better wait for a best reply.

Agreed. I just want to confirm that it is already configured. That's why i did it again, and it is responding with successfully opened a session, but at the next step it won't allow me to add and it is telling already the resource exists.
[Edit: But the device is not showed up in max and also not get detected in VISA IC
Thanks,
Mathan

Well Mathan, at least from what you're saying, the problem is not in devices and interfaces setup, since it has it on the database but it is not showing it. Have you tried to check your tcp/ip conections? Is it all well conected? Isn't there a way to edit the driver you add instead of creating a new one, because maybe the port number is a new one.
Have you checked all this?

First of all thanks a lot for your continuous and wonderful guidance.
It seems something is going crazy with my client PC. When i ping the scope it is working and responding well. But when i ping the client PC, it is not at all responding and timeout occurs. Maybe there is something problem in the network. will trace it out and get back to you. Thanks for pointing in all the possible directions.

It seems there is something problem with the remote PC.
In command prompt, no commands are functioning. Even ipconfig command is telling no operable batch command bla bla bla.

Glad to help you Mathan,
From your description, it was pointing that direction, something bad with you tcp/ip conection or some conflict related to that. Try to figure that out, and let me know if it works.

I ignored the client PC and took another one.
I did a uninstall and reinstall of NI VISA (visa301full.exe) in my TDS 7404 scope having win98 OS.
Now the MAX display is like this.
I can access the instrument with that GPIB resource. But i don't know how that entry came by default. I didn't configured it. Why it comes under miscellaneous resource. Also for remote client PC, no devices are listed here in MAX in scope.
Also in client PC under remote systems in MAX, No VISA resources found is displayed.
What am i missing?
Thanks,
Mathan
