String indicator is not transparent on all computers

I am having a problem trying to make my string indactor transparent.  I have used a classic string and with the tools pallette applied the color 'T' to the indicator and its border.  However although it shows completely transparent on my computer it is not on other computers but instead shows a lighter shade of the color behind it.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Is it possible to give a screenshot of both the cases.

Hello reza_sed,

Screenshots would be nice so we could compare.  Can you try the another monitor on either of the computers?  Do both of the computers have the same version of LabVIEW?  Can you try to make a property node for the indicator and a color box constant. I've included a screenshot of the property node.  Let me know if it still shows up different on the two computers.

Thanks for the replies,

Attached is the screenshots. It is in .odc because I coudn't attach .bmp for some reason and other formats caused the pictures to lose color.

The left one is the pic where the transparency comes out bad and the right one is when it comes out good.   If you haven't run into this problem before then by looking at the picture you might think I'm crazy.

However if you double click on the picture, or right click and select 'edit', the picture then opens it up in paint.  Now try to apply a different background color (instead of black) and you will notice that in the left picture you can now spot the string indicator box while in the right you can't.  Now this difference in color is so close it is impossible to spot on my computer however when looking at it from one of my  laptops I could easily see the difference.  I believe this may have to do with the color resolution on that laptop, however if it were truly transparent then I shouldn't have this problem.

Let me know if this makes things a little clearer or not,

Bitmaps are not allowed on the forums because they are just too large.  A .png is the preferred format and is a lossless compression of a bitmap, where as things like jpegs change the appearance.  Your instance is more special than just trying to post a screenshot since essentially your screenshot is the question.  If a .png file didn't accurately reflect what you are trying to tell us (though I think it would), there is a way to cheat and get a bitmap file to be attached.  Rename it as a .jpg.  It is still a bitmap, MS paint will know how to open and will automatically recognize it as a bitmap.  Keep the file size small as it seems you did with your word document.  And politely warn what you are doing and why.

It took a while, but I finally saw what you were talking about between the two screenshot instances.  Actually what I noticed first is that the text on the left seems more jaggy than the text on the right screenshot.

I think you might need to provide more information.  What kind of computer and operating system are you dealing with on each PC?  Are there any differences in resolution or color depth between the two?  Anything like font smoothing going on in one and not the other?  Can you try on yet another desktop PC or laptop for another comparison?

I want you to try something on the computer that seems to work fine.  Open the display properties from the control panel.  Go to the Settings tab and select Advanced.  In my video card settings, I can adjust a setting called "Gamma".   The higher you put this setting the more distinct the color difference will become.  Does the control still seem to be transparent or can you see a difference now?

Better way: zip the bitmap.

Dohhh!  Of course.Smiley Surprised

I felt a little guilty making such a suggestion.  But considering so many new users on this forum find that backdoor, it's what popped into my head first.

By changing the gamma setting now i do see a difference with both computers.  This to me means that the transparent setting/color isn't exactly transparent but close to transparent...unless there is some setting in labview I am missing

Thanks

Unfortunatly I can't repeat the transparency error again, and since I saved over my old fiel I can't retrive it again.  Right now everytime i try the transparency settings it seems to work so maybe it was my mistake at the beginning.

I will keep trying but thanks for the responses, it helped
