SubVI not executable: many express VIs cannot be opened

When I create an icon of an express VI on the Block Diagram, "error loading National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\resource\lvanlys.dll" appears. And when I double click the icon, it is shown on the screen "unable to view properties". I cannot run the VI, and the errors listed are like "SubVI 'simulate signal': SubVI is not executable". I do not know how to solve this problem.

Hope someone can help me. Thanks a lot!

What do you mean "create an icon of an express VI on the Block Diagram"?  Give us enough steps to be able to reproduce (or test) your problem.  Include:

  • Are you starting with a "blank" VI or a blank Project, i.e. starting from scratch?
  • What is on the Block Diagram before you "create the icon of an express VI"?
  • Which Express VI are you trying to use?

You don't really provide enough information (LabVIEW version, number of CPU cores, etc.) to pinpoint the problem, but I suspect that you might have an issue with the intel MKL. See if this fixes your problem.

  • I started with an blank VI.
  • Nothing is on the Block Diagram.
  • I used Simulate Signal, Simulate Arbitrary Signal, Filter and Amplitude & Level Measurements, and all encountered the problem I described.

My version is LabVIEW 2012, and there are four CPU cores.

Thanks.  You really do have a problem.  It sounds like a possibly bad or incomplete installation of LabVIEW.  One quick "reality check" is to look in C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\resource and see if you can find lvanlys.dll.  [The path is for a Windows 7/X64 system -- your path might vary slightly].  I'll bet the .dll is missing ...

If so, a reinstallation might fix things (but why it didn't install correctly is a mystery).

As a next step, simply repair the installation and see if things improve.
