TDMS Excel Add-In, Crashes Excel 2019

Hi all,

I'm currently having an issue with the most recent version of Excel (Click-to-run, through my organization), LabVIEW 2018 (32-bit) and TDMS Converter. I had this issue on versions 17, 18 and 19 (which is available in package manager but not reflected on the website).

When opening a TDMS file with the converter, it briefly runs (<1 second) and then fails and aborts. I can't provide any more details about the error as I'm unsure where to find any logs for this program, and it doesn't display anything after the failure.

Additionally, if anyone has any recommended methods/strategies for converting these TDMS files to useable formats, I could ditch the TDM add-on.

Software Versions:

Excel: Version 1906: (Build 11727.02044 Click-to-Run)

Labview 2018 (currently downloading 2019 to attempt)

TDM Add-In for Excel: 17, 18, and 19.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Disappointed_,

The link you provided states that the TDM Excel Add-In is only supported for Excel versions 2007-2016.

The following link might help for alternative ways to handle TDMS files:

The NI TDMS File Format

Hi,

is it possible to open the TDMS file in LabVIEW?

Can you please check if a log file has been created next to the TDMS file? Same name as the TDMS file, with .log extensions.

Thanks

usac, the TDMS file opens fine with the LabVIEW TDMS viewer, the file itself is correct.

Unfortunately, no log file is created upon crashing.

I've tried it with 32 and 64-bit versions of Office and all versions of the TDM Excel Add-In, as well as another PC I have which is able to open them. I've tried that functioning PC now with the same software versions as the non-functional one and it works. So I'm a bit at a loss as to what the issue with this PC/Installation is. And without any kind of logging I don't think I'll find out, short of doing a reinstallation of all NI software, which can't happen for at least two weeks. Until then I'll just offload the files to the working PC, seems to be the quickest workaround right now.

Thanks, and thanks Jiwhan for that link.

I don't meant to hijack your thread but...

What package manager is version 19 available in?  I looked through NI Package Manager and VI Package Manager and neither of those tools seem to provide the TDMS Excel Add-In.  I'm very curious because I have it installed on my Excel but I can't find it anymore on the NI website.
