Thermocube 200 chiller - no termination character option for RS232

Solved!
Go to solution

One quick question. Both of our thermocubes have  male serial ports, but with only 3 pins visible at positions 9, 8 and 7 (see picture). Yet, in the thermocube manual, it suggests communication is via pins 2, 3 and 5. I don't understand how this can be? Am I missing something?

It has been a couple of years since I worked on this device and I don't have it with me anymore, but I seem to remember having a similar configuration on my DB9 port. I contacted Solid State and it turns out that over the years they had lots of custom interface configurations and not all of them played nice with RS232. You may have one of them. I was able to send mine in and have the interface board replaced with a standard serial configuration and the whole system calibrated for $150 which I considered very reasonable. Pricing may have changed since then and who knows if they even offer it anymore but it may be worth contacting them. They'll want to know your serial number
