Thorlabs LC1-USB

Hi,

I'm trying to use Thorlabs USB CCD camera for my experiments. Thorlabs provided a LabVIEW driver for it. However it works very strange.
From time to time it fails to work. Moreover it just kicks me off and shuts down LabVIEW (8.5) (creates some error conflicting with Windows (I have XP)). It happens while executing LC1 Get Scan Data.vi and apparently while calling the .dll in this vi.
(Sometimes running the program in debug mode helps to eliminate this problem for a while, although I can't really understand why).

If anyone knows how to deal with such a bug I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Thanks.
Sergey.

Sergey,

There is another thread that has discussed this camera indepth. They reported some of the same problems you spoke of. This driver is not officially supported by National Instruments as it was made by Thor Labs, we will try to help you on the forums but you will have to contact Thor to get more in depth support.

Thanks.
I've looked through the previous topic on this CCD. It's not quite the same. In my case the .dll  shuts down LabVIEW.
I tryed to access the camera via Measurement & Automation and simply reset it. But I can't say that it helps in some regular way. In other words, I cannot come up with some step-by-step routine that would return the CCD back to life.
I have already sent a message to ThorLabs. Waiting for their reply...
Once again thanks.

Sorry that didn't help more. Once you hear something back from Thorlabs, please post back to potentially help future users. I will look into it a bit more, but since I don't have the camera and it is using a dll, it will be hard to drill down to the problem from my end.

This software might help you out a bit too. Sorry I didn't think of it earlier.

I've got good news from ThorLabs representative.
The problem can be easily fixed by setting the default Array Size to 3000 (if someone wants to read only a part of the Array - don't do that, it may crash LabVIEW). Array Size is one of the input parameters of GetScanData.vi.

Regards,
Sergey.

Hi Sergey,

I also bought a Thorlab CMOS camera which can be programmed with Labview.

Do you mind if you can share me your Labview code as a sample? I am new to

Labview and your help will definitely give me a fast start. Thanks.

Could you send to this email: luangl419@yahoo.com
