The knobs and dials do not rotate. They are circles with decorations that translate in a circle. This gives the appearance of rotation.
The line indicator on the control are a special rectangle that changes size and location with a routine for drawing a line from one corner of the rectangle to the other. This is interesting because the line will change orientation from one diagonal to another automatically. I have not been able to figure out how to modify the feature.
