Trouble connecting Bluetooth VI Example to Bluetooth Scale

Thanks for the response.  Things seem goofier.  I cannot do either of your suggestions.

REMEMBER I installed DBT-120 Drivers as per article that I listed above.  See attachments for clarification:

Thanks for the attachment as well.

The only thing that I can find is START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > COMMUNICATIONS > Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard

thats not what is needed.

Sorry it's been a while since I worked on this stuff........

To refresh my memory, I installed my Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter software on my Office PC and it is all coming back to me now !

After you have installed your specific Bluetooth Adapter Software that came with your Bluetooth Product, you should then see a couple of new items show up on your PC. In Windows Explorer, you should now see a new Bluetooth Folder called My Bluetooth Places. If you expand this Folder, you will ses things like "Entire Bluetooth Neighbourhood; My Device; Add a Bluetooth Device; Find Bluetooth Devices etc". You should now also see a new Bluetooth Icon on the bottom right side of the Toolbar. If you right click on it, you should be able to select things like "Bluetooth Configuration". If you do so, you should get a pop-up window with tabs called similar "General; Accessibilty; Local Services; Client Applications and Diagnostics". In these tabs you configure your Incoming and Outgoing Com Ports as per your specific Device requires. Attached is a snapshot of the Bluetooth Configuration Pop-up Window to give you an idea of what the config tabs looks like !

Good Luck !

Thanks for your response, howeverI think that I have more issues... that is with windows (sp2). I dont see any bluetooth icon in the lower right, nor in windows explorer, nor in the control panel!

Currently, I think that my main problem is that if I do the following: CONTROL PANEL > ADMINSTRATIVE TOOLS > SERVICES and if I look,   the Bluetooth support service is not started (maybe that is why i dont see any bluetooth icons?)....here is the kicker;  if I try to start the service I get the following error (Could not start Bluetooth Support Serice on Local Computer Error 1053) :

17451i06152450F0CF70C4

Frankly, I dont understand how your (biernaskieb) setup worked with labview if you installed the belkin software!!!

With the DLNINK DBT-120 installed as per windows only drivers (not the cd) as per NI article " How Do I Make a Bluetooth Device Work with LabVIEW?" ... when i tried the basic bluetooth server the application was able to pick up the device address but then gave me the error1 ....

recently i tried (out of frustration) to see what would happen if I did install the DLINK software that came with the DBT-120.... and when I tried the basic server application again, it couldnt find the device....thus validating the need for the microsoft driver.  After uninstalling and several reboots, I have been able to get my system back to where it was using the Microsoft driver.

Anyone got an idea on how to get the bluetooth support service started? or any other thing that I should be doing?

regards

jqm

From your latest posting it sounds like you may have a Driver/OS Support issue. First of all, what OS are you runiing on your PC ?  Each OS has it's own set of Bluetooth Drivers that it supports. In my case, we are running Windows XP OS therefore the weblink below has an article on the Microsoft Support Website that shows a List of Bluetooth radio drivers that are included and supported in Windows XP SP2.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841803/en-us

I had a quick look for your Device but it appears to not be on the XP OS list, you should verify this with Microsoft directly before proceeding any further.

actually I saw several postings on NI forums where the DLINK DBT-120 works under labview, guess I shouldnt have trusted that list!

also is there a easy way to actually correlate device PnPID #s that are listed under that microsoft supported list & actual product part numbers ... having a heck of a time actually trying to find model numbers so that I can purchase.

I don't know of any easy way myself but if you go to a Manufacturer's Website such as Belkin and lookup the Model # of the Device you are looking for such as mine, it should indicate the Supported OS for the Device such as my device as an example in the weblink below...........

Thanks, but the DLINK DBT-120 is supported by xp, anyways, I am still under the impression that you are not supposed to INSTALL any driver for things to work in labview  (thus I dont understand how yours is working)..

.....anyways since it is: what is your Device PnPID and the full belkin model number/revision?

thanks

My Device Driver is the following...........

USB\VID_050D&PID_0121\000A3A81EBB2

The Belkin Model Number/Revision is the following.......

F8T012xx1/FCC ID: K7SF6T012

I did not have any luck using the "Bluetooth Client/Server VI's" but I did have plenty'O'luck using the "Basic Serial Write and Read.VI". I used it for all of my Development, Debug and Verification of my NI LabVIEW App that we are currently using in our Lab !

Have a great weekend !
