!URGENT! Driver info HP4145A

Has somebody experience with programming a HP4145 parameter analyser in
LabVIEW.I'm looking for examples, tips and mayby a whole driver.
I already downloaded the HP4145B driver. I can send trough GPIB, but
can't read a thing !

Please help !!! I don't see a way out.

Typically, multiple versions of the same instrument differ only in small features such as storage media and specifications. I seem to remember someone telling me that HP4145A and B only differ in whether it has a floppy drive or some other medium.

So I would not expect a command set difference and the problem is most likely with the way your gpib interface is setup.

I would recommend first checking the interface with utilities such as ibic and NI Spy. The following web pages give you information on that:

This is Nikhil Nayak graduate student from CSU,Sacramento . Here is my problem I am setting VGs to variable i.e. VAR2 and then I land up in all sorts of problems as the HP4145 does not output any data. If on the other hand I keep Vgs as constant ,I am getting desired data . Hence I am planning to set VGS as a 'variable constant' and then make a loop for example Vgs=0.0:-0.1:-0.5 and then making a for loo for varying Vgs values. After doing so I was able to get the data for SYSTEM MODE but its taking way too long. I shifted to USER MODE in HP4145A but was not able to succeed with looping Vgs Can you help me with my problem Thanking you Nikhil

Yes I am sorry for posting this question here but I thought may be you guys are facing similar problems.

Anyways I managed to solve the problem as it was with controlling the connector .

I wanted to ask just one more thing ,

While controlling HP4145A thru Labview , do we need to get any special toolbox or does the normal LABVIEW serve the purpose ?

Any version of LabVIEW can use GPIB or VISA functions.

Hi, I know that this thread is old now, but I was wondering if any one knew where to get the example.vi from. I know next to nothing about labview but I am managing to communicate with the hp through NI-MAX so all is looking good. All I really want to be able to do is do a measurement manually and then let a programme take the data and put it in a spreadsheet I guess this should be easy?? Can any one help?
