USB-6008 on Toshiba E800 PocketPC

Hello,

I have PPC 2003SE running on a Toshiba E800 (with USB host) and USB-6008 attached. Running LV PDA 8.01, eVC++ SP4, and DAQmx base 2.01 everything appears to be set up correctly - but there seems to be a problem. Deploying the "WritePort.vi" example runs correctly, and when the "update" button is activated the 6008 LED starts blinking but, the port values only hold for a few seconds, then it appears the 6008 goes dead until the next time I press the update button. I've noticed that the 6008 LED only lights when first plugged into the e800 and when written to.

Perusing the forums it appears this type of application is fairly new, so I'm hoping someone may have some insight.

Thanks

Reniam,

I know that certain PDAs turn off their USB port (to save power) if there is no activity for a certain period. This will, of course, reset the 6008. Perhaps you can configure this delay somewhere in your PDA settings. The alternative would be to periodically access the 6008 to prevent the USB port from powering down.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Ryan,

I was about ready to give up when I stumbled upon the solution. The USB host on this device appears to stay active only when the WiFi is switched on.

Hi Sans,

First you will want to make sure that you have NI-DAQmx Base installed, along with the LabVIEW PDA Module.  Upon installing this driver and module, you will find examples located at Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-DAQmx Base >> Examples >> LabVIEW PDA.  There will be examples tailored to applications such as analog input, analog output, etc.  You can also search on ni.com for many tutorials and KnowledgeBase articles that pertain to the PDA module and its applications.

Hope that helps!
