Well... I think it depends on the circumstances.
But a computer that is probably 10 years old with a operating system that is unsupported since 2,5 years ago, to me that is already due for replacement. A new computer is only 400 $, how many hours will it take to fix these problems so that the new USB card can be used?
Unless there is a hardware problem with the 6501, there is some kind of vague driver mismatch problem that would probably dissappear with a fresh install of the latest LabVIEW and DAQmx versions.
Of course, if there are any special equipment like PCI card etc, it is more tricky.

How many hours? Less than one.
We established it's showing up in MAX just fine. We established he's using DAQmx 15 with LV 2011. It's less than an hour to uninstall 15, install a compatible version, and get moving.
It'd take MORE time to go acquire a new PC before starting to install software than it would to fix this. At that point, if he installed the same software he has now, he'd have the same problem.
The PC, the OS, the lack of support for Win XP... NONE of these are part of the problem. The card appears just fine. The problem, as he's stated it, is that he doesn't have DAQmx functions inside LV. That's purely the compatibility issue we've both mentioned. That isn't fixed purchasing new hardware. Are there reasons to upgrade? Certainly. But, none of them have to do with THIS problem.
