USB-845x library installation

Solved!
Go to solution

I have installed the USB-845x version 20 onto a PXI workstation (Windows 10). I ran the offline installation since this PXI is not connected to any network. The installation was successful, however, when I open Labview 2018 (32bit version), the instrument libraries are not populated. MAX shows that the module is recognized and I can send basic VISA commands to the module in Labview. Labview was installed prior to API installation. I have tried to repair the installation within NI Package Manager multiple times. I have also tried to load version 19. I have also tried to repair this installation in NIPM.

Any suggestions.

You also need to make sure the USB-845x LabVIEW 2018 Support package is installed.

Is this a separate download from the driver software? Do you have a link?

It is with the standard driver download.  You just have to make sure it is selected in the "additional packages" when you install.

There is no option to select USB-845x LabVIEW 2018 Support (or anything similar) when I do the installation or the repair.

Available selections for install:

NI-845x Support for C

Available selections for repair:

NI I/O Trace

NI-845x Support for C

NI Certificates Installer

Is it possible that the offline installation does not include the Labview Support?

I'm currently downloading NI-845x 21.3 (just noticed it available as of a week ago).  It is compatible with LabVIEW 2018, so you might want to give it a try.  I will report later what I see when running the installer.

I actually tried this one first but then found a compatibility matrix that lead me to believe it wasn't compatible with 2018 so I went down to 19 and 20.  I have tried again to install this one with no change.

That is indeed strange.  You should be seeing something like this:

Nope. Not seeing that. Just to repeat, I am downloading the offline version. I move the .iso file over to the PXI and run the install.exe and my first stop in the Wizard only gives me the C Support option. When I explore the folders I do see the LabVIEW support .nipkg's but they don't seem to be getting pulled into the installation.

I install using the "offline" as well.  So here is another option.  In NI Package Manager, go to the "Packages" tab and search for the NI-845x Support for LabVIEW 2018 (XX-bit).  You may have to uncheck the "Products Only" option.  You should be able to install from there.  If not, go into the "Installed" tab and actually make sure LabVIEW 2018 is installed.
