Using 8156B RT controller's serial port in RT OS

I am attempting to write a string with the serial write vi with Labview 6.03
RT targeted to the PXI 8156B controller. However, the serial write vi never
seems to complete execution...just keeps on running. I assumed that the
port number is 0. I also tried other port numbers with no success. Any
insight would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend first trying to use one of the shipping examples, such as Serial Communication.vi found in labview\examples\instr\smplserl.llb, with a loopback cable. If this works, then you have a good starting point.
