Using 9219 load cell external excitation

Solved!
Go to solution

I want to use 9219 to evaluate load cells.

The internal excitation for 9219 is not sufficient for my purposes, can this unit be used with an external excitation source?

If so is it as simple as using the external excitation voltage across the load cell bridge and measuring the output of the bridge on the 9219?

Max output would be around 20mV.

Hello Axehandler

Unfortunately, the 9219 doesn't support external excitation. The only C-Series module that will allow bridge-based sensor measurement with external excitation is the NI 9237.

How high an excitation voltage does your sensor require?

Typically we'd be using 8 volts for excitation.

Then the 9237 is probably your best choice. For that excitation voltage, you will need to use an external source.
