I am experiencing the same problem and I can not find the "manage database" nor the "historical data" in any meny tree.

Using:

DAQmx 8.0.0f0

MAX 4.0.0.3010

VI logger light 2.0.1

NI-USB-6009

Thanks for any kind of suggestion

Hi,

Sorry to say but I've still not found an answer.  I'm using the exact same set up and it always comes up with the error, " Database does not exist in the specified path".   I hope this can be solved soon had it a while now.  The logger SW did work for a time then the error.

Richard

We contacted NI and were advised to upgrade to VI Logger 2.0.1 which we did but to no avail. We then obtained a 30 trial license for VI Logger Full (as opposed to Lite) but this still didn't solve our problems despite a complete re-install under a different user account on the PC in question.

We gave up in the end and bought a digital scope. Its a shame really because the uninstall process must be leaving broken references on the PC, probably in the register.

What is needed here is for the code developers to get involved and help NI help its customers.

I'm posting this as we've managed to solve the problem.

We decided to pop into windows registry and have a look around. We found three parameters that, despite what we entered in the database path configuration of Citadel, pointed to a different path. We manually edited these paths to point to C:\VI Logger Data (for example) and everything now works.

Once we've finished some important testing i'll be able to posty exactly what parameters we changed.

Cheers....

Hi - my solution to the problem was the following (after having tried all of the abovementioned methods without any success): I uninstalled the whole software and checked the directories and registry for any remaining national instrument or VI Logger files, which I deleted. Then I created a new user without a password, installed the Labview evaluation software first (no idea, if that makes a difference) and then the software on the CD, that came with my USB 6009.
And finally it worked! :-))

Hi Richard-

I missed your earlier reply because of other activity in this thread.  Your USB-6008 will not be able to interface with earlier versions of VI Logger and/or LabVIEW 6.1 because your device requires the use of NI-DAQmx which is incompatible with versions of LabVIEW prior to 7.0.

Are you still unable to see options in MAX pertaining to the VI Logger 2.0 installation?  You may want to glance at the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\VI Logger\Data Storage Path" to make sure that it matches the setting you have selected in MAX.  Please keep in mind that you should only edit your registry if you have experience doing so and that you should always backup a copy before making any changes.

Hopefully this helps-

Thanks for your reply, been to busy recently with work to try out some newly posted solutions.  Will post what works tho.

Been discussing with NI in using labview 6.1 with USB 6009 they say that it might be possible with just the drivers?? I dont know! Might just upgrade should solve all.

Thanks agian

HI Richard-

There is no LabVIEW API for the USB-6008 (i.e. NI-DAQmx) for LabVIEW versions prior to 7.0.  So, your best option would be to upgrade your LabVIEW version if at all possible in order to get the best possible device support.

Hopefully this helps-
