VI Ver(7.1) can't be converted to labview ver(8.20) cause it has no block dia

Dear Sir,

    We have some vis were made in Labview 7.1 and i want convert them or open them in Labview 8.20, but while i am trying to open them in Labview 8.20 it gives error message "VI Ver(7.1) can't be converted to labview ver(8.20) cause it has no block dia". Detailed error has attached with mail and that vi do not open.
   So i kindly request you to go through matter and suggest the solution at earliest.

As the error message states, a VI with diagram removed can't be converted (or modified). You'll have to use the original VIs with diagrams.
If you remove diagrams from VIs, always keep a copy of the VI with diagram.

Dear sir,

 Actually these vis were made earlier in Labview 7.1 by one of the our vendor. Now we want to use that vis for similar application in Labview 8.20. is there any other option please tell.

Dear Rajendra,

If your vendor only gave you VIs without diagrams I think the only option is to talk to them and ask them for:
a) updated VIs (8.20 version)
b) password-protected VIs instead of VIs without diagrams

In case b) you still won't be able to modify the VIs but you can convert them to 8.20 (unless they break, but this is unlikely)

 It may not be possible to take vis from him in Labview 8.20, except that is there any other solution for that.

   I hv one more issue i.e. activation of Labview 8.20. We have purchased Labview 8.0 Devlopment suite from NI, after that now they have sent us updated version Labview 8.20. Can i install and activate the Labview 8.20 on another pc where Labview 8.0 is not installed? also NI has not provided serial no for Labview 8.20. please tell me the how to install and activate labview 8.20.

Dear Rajendra

If you have the Developer Suite I think you'll automatically have 1 year of Standard Service Program (SSP). This means that during one year you'll get free software updates.
So of course you can install and activate LV 8.20, just check the license agreement or this thread to see how many installations you're allowed to have.
The serial number should be the same as in LV 8.0.

No, once a VI is saved without diagram there's no way to get it back or to modify it.
All you can do with it is use it as is in the current LV version.
To modify, you will need the original VI BEFORE the diagram was removed. But I think your vendor won't give you these. So you can only do what I suggested before, ask him for password-protected VIs instead of diagram removed or for updated VIs for LV 8.20.
