VISA not showing COM port

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello, I have made a simple VI which gets data from the PC com port.

It runs fine on my desktop but today for the first time I ran it on my new laptop and it is not showing the COM port. I can see the COM port in device manager but it does not appear in drop down menu in my VI. Can someone help please? I have attched my VI.

Thanks

Do you see it in Measurement and Automation Explorer?

Are  you using labview 2013? I had a similar problem and I had to install NI-VISA for it to show up. So not sure if you have installed that, but if not, then that should fix your issue.

I certainly hope the OP realizes that they need to install the drivers and not just LabVIEW when they want to use their VI's on a different PC.

Thanks. That's exactly I was missing. It works now.
