Vi crashes labview, any way to recover?

Hi all, someone at work has asked me to try and recover his vi but i am having no luck. Evidentally he wrote it in 8.2, but when trying to open it with 8.6 it crashes. I installed 8.2 and it says that it cant open the vi because it was written in 8.6 so i am guessing he must have saved it in a 8.6 development system and that is what corrupted the vi.  At any rate, he has no backups and had a few weeks worth of work in the vi.  Is there any way to get this vi back?  He does have a working executable and installer package, but needs to make some edits so obviously needs the source...

Help 🙂

If the VI is set to execute when opened, and the crash occurs as a result of running it, do this:

1. Create a blank VI.

2. Drop the problem VI on the blank block diagram.

3. Double click on the VI's icon, and it will open without running.

If the crash occurs simply by opening the VI, try mass compiling.

Is the concept of backups unknown to your cow-orker?

yeah, crahses just by opening it. I will try mass compiling tomorrow.

Well, he has backups, just backups from after it was saved to 8.6 🙂

Labview crashes when attempting to compile the vi as well.  Any other ideas or is it lost..?

You could try posting the VI to see if someone else can try to open it.
