View menu selections grayed out

Recently we had a contractor help with some VI development. Unfortunately the individual has been out of contact. The VIs they wrote have the Contols Palette and Toolbars choices grayed out in the block diagram, and the same goes for the Functions Palette and Toolbars choices in the front panel. Could anyone please tell me where the options are for disabling these functionalities?

Could be that the VIs are locked. Go to the Operate menu and see if you have Change to Edit Mode.

The Controls Palette menu item is supposed to be grayed out when you're viewing the block diagram. Likewise, the Functions Palette menu item is supposed to be grayed out when viewing the front panel. So, what you're seeing is normal as far as those menu items are concerned. Not sure about the Tools palette. That part doesn't make much sense.

Of course. I read that question wrong. If you have no Controls palette from the front panel or no Functions from the block diagram, that is when you should see if the VIs are locked.
