Welcome to the New NI Discussion Forums!

Hi Jamiat,

Please start a new thread (within this forum) with your request for help.
You may not get the assistance you need from this one because it is dedicated to the topic of the new forum format.

A new thread should get the appropriate attention.

I agree completely that searching is very valuable in this community and that it can be frustrating that the search box is down at the bottom of most pages. We were able to get it moved to the top of the main page, but haven't been able to get the rest of them moved yet.

Some things you can do in your profile are to change the settings that control how many threads or posts you see per page. This will shorten up most of the pages and bring that search box a little closer to your fingertips. The tradeoff is that you won't see as much information on a page. The two fields to change are "Messages per page in linear format" and "Messages per thread page in linear view."

I will continue to work to get those search boxes moved up!

Thanks!

Can you expand your list of file extensions allowed to be attached to a post to include the .ctl extension for Labview controls?

Hi Molly !

Just to back tbob suggestion, here is a copy of an old mail that you may have missed :

Hi Molly !

I just found that the .scr (vision assistant script files), probably the smallest operational attachments, have to be zipped before being posted. Since I have not solved yet my problem with files larger than 26 ko, I feel persecuted. 😄

Hi Molly !

Don't you think that the "Reply Thread Options Mark Thread as New Mark Thread as Read Float this Thread to the Top Add This Thread to My Bookmarks Add This Thread to My Subscriptions Print This Message Message ..." garbage should be removed from the list that is returned after a search ?

The "Submit post" and "Attachment" buttons are not optimaly placed : when trying to add an attachment, it is easy to make a confusion (see the number of post where people say "hoops, sorry, I forgot to add the attachment. Need some coffee...). Could you put both buttons on the same line, and may be add some color to the "Submit Post" button ?

Hello All -

I have added the two file types to the list of files you can attach. CC - Sorry your request slipped past me 🙂
Thanks for the reminder.

I agree that how the search results are being displayed when you search from the top of the page is a problem. We are working on getting it to index the documents so that the summaries are more helpful.

I will work with the forum developers to investigate how to improve usability of the "Submit Post" and "Attachment" buttons.

I also have some queries that will help you keep up to date on the most active users in the forums. These can be used until we get the "Leader Lists" fully implemented:
Enthusiast Members
Active Members
Active Employees
I hope they are easier to use than manually finding everyone the way CC did!

Thanks!

Thanks Molly !

Things are getting better, but for a while Man will remain better than Machine 😄
I have started a new thread about the Enthusiast list on the "Feed back on NI Discussion Forum" board.

Hello,

I notice that when I click on "Sing In" I am automatically logged in without entering my email address and password. It looks like the Forum system saves the login profile in a cookie. How can I disable this automatic login? I am using a public computer and I don't wish to allow others to log in as myself. Also, how do I change my log in password?

Your login cookie is actually being set by your user profile on ni.com, not by the forums themselves. Click on My Profile at the bottom of the page and follow the link to modify your profile. You can change your password there as well as change the option to "Prompt for password."

Hope that helps,
