Hi Markus,

our local NI Salesman suggested www.lvug.de. Among others, Herbert Pichlik who wrote the well-known German LabVIEW books is one of the members/founders.
Unfortunately the site has not been updated since may this year and I didn't manage to log in to the discussion forum. But perhaps it's a bug of my internet connection...good luck.

The site was mentioned in an c't article (16/2003). I also tried to
register myself and always had an error but logging in is working now
and i can read the threads in the forum. But there are only 8 (!)
entries. The site looks dead for me and there is very less information.
In spite of the fact that i think there are a lot of german LabView

users which could freshen such a platform. The only way (and that's not
less) to get information is to read this newsgroup and search the NI
developer zone.

The problem of the german LV User Group is that it is not known widely. As a NI Alliance memember I know of founding the group but my management didn't want to join it by now. I don't know if it was sended to all email contacts NI Germany has.

Next is the presentation on the Web. If you are on the main page you are presented with links titeld "Unsere Produkte" which in fact are the products of the LVUG members. The title implies that these products are products of the LVUG. So how do you distinguish between the noncommercial interest of the LVUG and the commercial interests of the members? This is also reflected in the different types of membership.

There is not clearly differentiated between registerd users which d
o not need to pay any fee and the members.

Unusual for me is also entering the public discussion forum. You always have to register. Normally you can read any discussions to get an impression of the work which is done in the forum. And when you want to participate in the forum you need to register. The way it is done in the LVUG seems to me like collecting adresses. On the page "Verein" is stated that you have to express explicitly that it is allowed to give the data to the commercial members but on the page "Registrierung" you cannot enter this. And there is no statement what the befault behaviuor will be.

From all the discussions here I see two classes of questions. One are the "help me starting up" questions and the other are the "tricky problems" questions. I can imagine having a german discussion forum for the first class of questions but for the second class this forum will give more resources despite of the fact that a lot of german speaking LV users can answer a lot of th
em.

And at last how does NI Germany stand to the LVUG? There seems to be no link on the german pages. A search with "LVUG" or "LabVIEW User Group" will give no result.

Waldemar,

I absolutely agree with you. "Help me starting up"- questions could be dealt with in a German speaking discussion forum. Moreover, this would be helpful for German LabVIEW beginners "blessed" with the German version. Most of them have never been in contact with all the English expressions before and thus would have lots of difficulties to post questions in English.
