What is Gain Bandwidth Product of Op Amp?

Can anyone tell me what, in plain English, exactly is the Gain
Bandwidth Product of an op amp?

I have been told that it could be a measure of how well the output an
op amp tracks its input. The name itself is not self expalitory and I
have no references to turn to. The internet gets me a hash of spec
sheet info, etc., etc.

Thanks,

Mike

If I recall correctly from my electronics education it means that if using a particular Opamp in an amplifier setup:
Say gain = 1 and Bandwidth is BW then:
At gain = 10: Bandwidth is BW/10.
Hope this helps.

It is that frequency where the gain equals unity, i.e. ONE
