Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
AO Control is used to start, pause, resume, and clear analog output tasks. On the AO Control VI you can specify control codes for each of these actions as well as several others, including setting a New Staging List.
When the New staging list operation (control code 7) is called in the AO Control VI, then it will stop the current waveform generation in progress, load a new staging list and start the waveform generation by starting the clock. The staging list is used to specify the desired buffer(s) to be used and is only necessary when you are running AO Control VI with control code 7 selected.
If you refer to the help for the AO Control VI then is will specify what the staging list is composed of since it
is an array of clusters.
In regards to the application that you seem to be doing, it appears that you are simple trying to create a switch that will be able to go between two set voltages based on a digital control line. If this is the case, then I would recommend looking into some switch hardware that can easily accomplish this. Or if timing/speed is not critical than using a case statement or event structure in LabVIEW can be used to control and configure that analog output that you want.
If this does not answer your question then please let us know. Have a great day!
