Couldn't find this in many searches:

Where is the glossary (rosetta stone) of the many tiny icons that can appear on other icons in LV, usually on the lower right corners. For instance, here are a couple from an lvlib:

where is tiny icon tag glossary.png

You should go through the tutorials. The top icon is for a library: lvlib. Next are two virtual folders and the bottom is a VI.

Thanks, I'll browse the tutorials. However, just as there is a glossary in help, a glossary of icons and their potential small decorations (not FP type) woiuld be a boon. Referring to the Tutorials to find the info is not ideal.

Thanks again.

Feel free to write one.  Most people first learn LabVIEW, spend the time with a colleague, teacher, tutorial, etc., and pick it up by seeing it in context and learning it that way.

Makes sense. in my case, I'm entirely self taught, learnng what I need as I go along, with nobody around to talk to except in the forums.. Not the easiest path, of course. And with decades of text programming in my history, it was excruciating at the beginning as it is for many.

You seem to be missing the point. Tutorials are not something to be "browsed". They are to be studied -- something that you have clearly not already done. If you had, you would have not just the answer to this question, but many others as well.

When you see the exact same icon as the one that Windows uses to represent a VI, do really need a glossary for you figure out, "Gee, maybe that is a VI?" If so, THAT is what is really not ideal.
