Hi All,
This question has been asked before but I can't find a solution.
Trying to install NI-RIO 3.6.0 with SCAN Engine support to a cRIO9025 but its greyed out with the following message.
Network Variable Engine 1.7.1 (not available on host)
Network Streams VxWorks Version Specific Binaries 1.0.1 (not available on host)
Network Streams 1.0.1 (not available on host)
Modbus I/O Server 1.7.1 (not available on host)
DataSocket for LabVIEW Real-Time 4.8.2 (not available on host)
NVE Core 1.7.1 (not available on host)
EPICS Server I/O Server 1.7.1 (not available on host)
Variable Client Support for LabVIEW RT 1.7.1 (not available on host)
NI cURL 1.0.1 (not available on host)
NVE Serial Subsystem 1.7.1 (not available on host)
SSL Support for LabVIEW RT 3.1.0 (not available on host)
At first they all said (older version available on host)
I have reinstalled Real-time engine and NI-RIO 3.6.0 and now get (not available on host).
Where is all this stuff???
Paul

To give you a little background, the images that are available to install onto a cRIO through MAX are actually installed with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, Modules/Toolkits with Real-Time support, and associated drivers (serial, VISA, etc). The RIO driver will checks to see what images are available on the host when it is installed and lists them as options to install in the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard.
What appears to be going wrong here, is that the NI-RIO 3.6 driver is unable to find the some of the images it needs from the LabVIEW Real-Time Module in order to be able to install them onto your target. (Note: The version requirements of the software you're trying to install depend on the version of LabVIEW Real-Time you've selected to install on the target) Since you said you already re-installed the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, and RIO driver (hopefully in that order, check order of installation) then I'm guessing there may be a compatibility issue between the version of the LabVIEW Real-Time Module you're using and the NI-RIO 3.6 driver. You can check compatibility in the NI-RIO 3.6 .readme file or in this KnowledgeBase.
Keeping that all in mind, what versions of LabVIEW and the LabVIEW Real-Time Module are you using?

HI Zach,
I have the same (identical) problem.
We are using LabView 2010 SP1 core + RT Module supplied with 2010 SP1 LabView. Might be a problem with installation order, wil reinstal to confirm, and post the answer here. If there is any other advice you can provide, I will be happy to listen.

Hey Luka,
If you think the issue could be installation order related you might get away with repairing or updating the RIO driver, but if the installation of LabVIEW Real-Time is really the problem you'll have to repair/reinstall it, then repair/reinstall the RIO driver. A reinstall will most likely fix your problem.
Let us know what happens

Hi Zach.
I have uninstalled RT Module and RIO and reinstalled them in this order. Sadly, nothing is changed and the only available software for install on the cRIO is still the minimal version (no Scan Engine support). I wonder, as well, which modules and toolkits containg/install the missing parts of the software - Modbus, Network Variable Engine etc (check the list of the first poster).
Since debugging takes longer than just a fresh reinstal, i have decided to abandon the LV 2010 SP1 and go from scratch on LV 2012. I hope it will go smoothly this time, although finding the cause of the 2010 SP1 issue would be beneficial.
Maybe, when there is more time to play around I can check that out, but for now, I just need to get it running.
Some clarification regarding the repair/reinstall: The RIO software on the host doesn't seem to be the problem (i have tried NI-RIO 3.60, 4.00 and 12.00) and they all act the same, so there must be a problem with the underlying RT Module setup or maybe even the LV core install, since reinstal of RT module did not change anything.
I truly hope I get it working with the 2012 edition.
Updates follow as soon as there is news!
Cheers, L

So Zach,
here is the recap of new developments:
I have uninstalled everything and installed LabView 2012 Edition, with different modules, EPICS IO, Real Time Module, Mathscript, etc, and at the end, installed DEVICE DRIVERS, including RIO!
I seem to have, now, another option for install which I did not have with the 2012 SP1 version, although the NI RIO with Scan Engine support is still missing. ( It seems that the Real Time 12.0 has this built in, or am I mistaken?)
I wonder whether I am doing something wrong.
The following options are available when trying to install NI-RIO in MAX:
I hope you can confirm that this is the correct option to instal for full functionality of the cRIO module!
Thanks, Regards,
Luka

Hey Luka,
As far as I can tell from that screen shot everything appears to be there. You can verify that you're able to install the scan engine and scan engine support for serial modules by looking through the list on the right. As show in the screenshot below:
Currently I see that you don't have WSN 1.4 (not yet released) , any of our NI-Industrial Communications drivers, NI-Motion, or the NI-FBUS drivers available. I'm guessing this is because they're not installed on your host machine, which isn't a problem unless you plan on using any of those communication protocols in your application. As for the scan engine support, the option to install the scan engine is included as an add-on in the (Optional) page of the software installation wizard. Its my understanding that in past versions of the NI-RIO driver selecting "with scan engine support" would automatically highlight those add-ons for you.

Zach,
thank you very much for the explanation!
This time, everything seems to be working fine!
For those who experience this kind of troubles, the order of installation is important, and i suggest, that you follow the order in which the following eval is presented: https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/evaltlktembdes/content.xhtml
Thanks for all your help, Zach, and have a good one!
Cheers,
Luka

Hi All,
Great to see you got your system working Luka! However for the OP, myself and any others who don't wish to just abandon LV2010 and start again from scratch with '12, is there a solution to this problem? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling so many times now it's making my head spin!

Marc,
I am sorry but i cannot be more specific about 2010, since I have completely scratched it off my working software. I hope that someone else, who is running the 2010 version will be able to help you. In general, my advice is that you follow the proposed instalation order, which is the installation of the LV core and then all of the modules, toolkits and updates. Install the latest device drivers last.
Perhaps try to do a maximally full install (instal everything, includin what you do not need). Beyond that I am afraid I cannot provide you with a solution.
Sorry,
Hope you resolve this issue,
BR,
Luka
