Visual C++ has a freeware edition, Visual Studio Express. (i didn't knew that)

Yes. Even if i don't have much free time, Labview can not fulfill all the needs, and sooner or later i think i will need it.

You should also consider some scripting languages as well as XML.
XML used with Labview can be quite interesting 😉

10 MBytes seems too small (to me) for a programming language (i downloaded it, from Jim's link), and completely free !
Is this Python ?
