Why won't my PC recognize my cRIO 9025 when I open a new project

Solved!
Go to solution

I am trying to add my cRIO 9025 to an empty labview project, but it doesn't appear under "new>>targets and devices..."  The cRIO appears under "Remote Systems" in MAX and I've added it under "My Systems" in NI Distribution System Manager.  What could cause this problem?  I've attached a screenshot of the "Add Targets and Devices" menu I am seeing.

Under the Add Targets and Devices menu, all I see is that you have expanded the folder for Mobile Devices - that is the wrong folder. Collapse that folder and see what other ones you have. The one you are looking for should say Real-Time CompactRIO and that is the one that should be expanded.

There are no other folders in the Add Targets and Devices menu.  Attached is a pic of the collapsed folder.

If you don't see any other folders then it is most likely a conflict of versions or has to do with your order of installation. What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of the Real-Time module do you have installed? Did you install LabVIEW first and then the Real-Time module?

LabView 10.0.1 development system.  I just installed the NI Developer Suite 2011 and the NI Device Drivers DVD dated Febuary 2011.  I never installed any disks called "Real-Time Module".

If you don't have the RealTime module installed that is equivalent to your version of LabVIEW, you will not be able to target those devices in the project. To double check for the module, you can open MAX and expand the software section. Once that is expanded, expand the LabVIEW section and look for an item that says Real-Time. I'm guessing that its not there so that is something you would need to install (downloadable here https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/evaltlktcds/content.xhtml). I have no idea if you purchased a license for the RealTime module so that will be something you have to figure out with NI. If you don't have a license and you install the module, you will get a trial period until it makes you activate it.
