Hello,
I am having difficulties installing Academic Site License Spring 2009 LabVIEW Core on a Windows 7 Enterprise 32-Bit Operating System.
We are using this deployment of LabVIEW for approximately 310 computer systems. I am testing out the installation on the system specifications mention above, which all 310 systems will have.
I am receiving the following error when I run the "setup.exe" from the NI LabVIEW Core Software Disc 1/2:
*** Error: Windows SDK function returned an error. (Error Code -12 )
*** End Error Report
I have tried running the installation option "Run as Administrator", however I receive the same error as mention above. I have looked around the NI Forums Boards regarding this issue, and I have not seen any threads related to my problem.
Any suggestions as to a possible fix? Or am I waiting until Fall 2009 LabVIEW is shipped?

Hi nickhit
Is this a fatal error or can you continue? I have to say I'm not at all at home with what is included in the academic LV Core, I've seen this problem when trying to install Measurment Studio Toolkits without having Visual Studio installed first. Is MStudio included? Searching the forum I found multiple threads with the same code, but all pertain to building installers inside LabVIEW. Do you have a later release to try with?

Hi again
I had a look at what was included in the Academic LV Core. MStudio is not included, but there is a Fall release out. Post back how it goes.
Best Regards

From your previous post I understod that the error message was not fatal and that the installer continued. So at what point does it exit? Have you tried running it actually logged on as Administrator as well? I've run LV 2009 on Windows 7 (Pro) without incident (even though there is no official support), but I've never tried the academic core installer. Will try to find one up and set up a 7 image and see if I can recreate what you are seeing. Just a thought, what version of the .NET framework do you have installed?

The installer exits after selecting the features you want to install, and by hitting "Next" it reports the error.
On the Windows 7 Enterprise 32-Bit, I have .NET Framework v3.5. I also run the installation as a Local Administrator.

Hi again
I just installed the Academic LV 2009 Core (fall release) on a Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit without any problems. The system was a clean install, only drivers. Because of limited disc space I did not install Signal Express, Curcuit Design Suite or the Device Drivers. Could you try running the installer and excluding these?
Best Regards

Unfortunately, the installer that shipped with Academic Site License Spring 2009 will not work on Windows 7, regardless of how your system is configured, and compatibility mode will not help either (as it released long before Windows 7). The Fall 2009 version will generally install OK, with a few minor issues. Here's the list of supported versions for Win 7: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/10383

Hi
There is one last thing you can try if you have no choice but to run this version. Copy the DVDs to the harddrive and run the Setup.exe directly. That has worked in the past with this error, not on this specific product but it may be worth a try (even though, like WesW pointed out it this product is not supported in Windows 7)
