Writing to file problems. Help!

I'm writing to a file and I have time coming in to write time, followed by the channel values. What I want is the following:

Time/Date | Channel one | Channel two | etc
6-6-05 5.6v 2.4v

What I'm getting is all the channel values for channels one through 3 in the same column. How can I fix this. But the time stamp is fine since it needs to be in one column.

Attached is my program.

Get rid of the for loop and use the array to spreadsheet function in the string palette for your data.

Using the modified Write to Spreadsheet file in your other post, your VI should like like the attached.

If you want to keep the formatting with "v" after each number and tab separated fields, use something like that attached modification. (LabVIEW 7.1). There are many ways to do this.

... and don't forget to close your file outside the big loop when done. 🙂

Is there a way to simulate the channels without hooking to a daq card etc?

To simulate a signal use simulate signal vi or simulate arb signal vi located in the express tool palatte. Or you can use one of the function generators.

Actually, if you get the newest NI-DAQmx 7.4 drivers, you can use simulated devices, no DAQ card needed, but it will behave as if you had the hardware installed!

Have a look at this recently added NI tutorial. 🙂 Cool stuff!

The code looks great but the data thats reported on my graph and control display is not reporting correctly. To be more specific even though I change my channel name to a different name it still gathers the same value. And if I change all the channels to have the same channel name I just get one channel value and the other 2 are blank for some reason. Any Help would greatly appreciated since I just started using labview..

Side Note:
Overall my intent of this vi was to gather some data from some channels and then save them to a file. Then I used an array to gather the names of the channels so that it is always correct and corresponds to the channel. So if I change the channel name it will change in the excel file that I created. Maybe I'm doing this wrong any suggestions would help...
