Your Content I want to make interface between keithley 2636A source meter and lakeshore temperature controller . what will be the required hardware?

It seems like both have USB interfaces (http://www.tequipment.net/Keithley2636A.html , http://www.lakeshore.com/products/ac-resistance-bridges/model-372/pages/Specifications.aspx) which means you wouldn't need any additional hardware (at least for LSC Model 372).

You can also use a GPIB interface: http://www.ni.com/en-us/support/model.gpib-usb-hs.html

What will this interface do?  Exchange data?  Synchronize triggers?  Maintain a constant drinkable temperature for a cup of coffee?  Facilitate inheritance of any offspring?  We really can't help without some specifics.

I'd recommend using the RS-232 port.  If you don't have a DB9 Com port on your PC then get yourself a USB-RS-232 adapter.

I apologise.  Perhaps, I was overly sarcastic.  What interface do you want.  Do you want an interface between the two devices? Or did you need to coordinate a communication scheme with them from a PC?

the devices area capable of doing both, with the right hardware interface.

by asking for specifics, I really want you to help clarify the situation.

I have keithley 2636A source meter (interface options - gpib/LAN/RS 232 ) and lakeshore's 331 temp controller (interface options - gpib/LAN/RS 232 ). I want to make interface between them so that they can be control using PC (Labview) and command the experiment on labview. I dont have much experience about this. So i am asking about the hardware required in interfacing.

I need to communicate with both instruments at same time. I have one gpib cable.

In order to connect both instruments to the GPIB Interface on your computer, you will need to purchase or locate an additional GPIB Cable.  With the second cable, you then connect the two instruments in series with the PC.

You will also need to make sure the GPIB address in the Keithley and Lake Shore Model 331 are different.  The Lake Shore Model 331 has a default GPIB Address of 12. If you need assistance on changing the address, please contact service@lakeshore.com.

Once you have the two instruments recognized by the PC, I suggest you download the Labview Drivers for the Model 331 which will assist you in developing your application. Labview drivers for the Model 331 can be downloaded from the National Instruments site at http://search.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/global/lang/en/pg/1/q/lake%20shore%20331/
