adding VI to palettes

Hi, I have tried to add some of my VI's to the palette  and it made crash LabVIEW and now I get an error on every VI I try to open, the VI could not open the file wasn't found?
So I am reinstalling LabVIEW but Is there an other way to solve this problem next time.
Because it takes too long to reinstall labVIEW

Thanks
Olivier

I had this once. I think I changed a palette entry in my .ini file. I'm sure
I didn't need to reinstall LabVIEW.

The think that caused it was that I renamed the .mnu files. Everythink
worked fine, and all of a sudden I got what yuo descripbed. Every VI I
dropped on the diagram resulted in an error. Even if it had nothing to do
with the VI's in the palette I added. Sure got me worried for a while.

Regards,

Wiebe.

Hi Olivier,

Are you adding VIs that you created yourself, or from a toolkit that you purchased? Did LabVIEW give you an error message or create an error log when it crashed? This documentation could be useful in investigating the problem.

Were you able to use the VIs after you reinstalled LabVIEW?

Hi Olivier,

Are you still having problems with LabVIEW? Unfortunately, without an error log, it is difficult to reproduce. From what I understand, you do not want to add any more pallettes to LabVIEW, so you will not need to perform a reinstallation.

Please clarify your problem so that I may help you troubleshoot this issue.

This once happened to me.  It just deleted the dir.mnu file and when Labview opened, it re-created the file.  Everything was OK.
The best way to add vi's to palettes is to use the edit palette function within Labview.  It's not very straightforward but it works once you get the hang of it.  I now have lots of my own vi's in the User Lib palette.  Be sure to back up User.Lib before you re-install or upgrade Labview.
